Liam Neeson’s The Naked Gun (2025) is making waves at the box office this year. It has earned $44.6 million in North America and $32.4 million internationally, bringing its worldwide total to $77 million. The film has already surpassed several 2025 releases, including Materialists, The Monkey, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Until Dawn, and Black Bag.

The movie is on track to surpass the global haul of the original 1988 The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!, which made $78.8 million worldwide. If it continues at its current pace, it will become the second-highest-grossing entry in the franchise, behind 1991’s The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear, which earned $86.9 million. To claim the top spot, it still needs to make roughly $10 million more worldwide, and it faces competition from hits like Weapons and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Directed by Akiva Schaffer, the film follows Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., played by Liam Neeson, the son of Leslie Nielsen’s iconic character. Now leading the Police Squad, Drebin Jr. investigates the mysterious death of a tech engineer, the brother of Beth Davenport (Pamela Anderson). The investigation leads to chaotic and hilarious events, blending action and comedy in classic Naked Gun style.
