The Guest is a drama series on BBC One that tells the story of a controlling and complex relationship between a successful businesswoman and her employee. As their connection grows more intense, the show raises an important question: Who is really in control?

The Guest tells the story of a complex and intense relationship between two women from very different worlds, one is a powerful and successful businesswoman, and the other is her employee, a young cleaner. At first, it looks like the boss is helping the cleaner, but as the story goes on, we begin to wonder, is the boss helping, or is she using her? Or maybe the cleaner is not as innocent as she seems. The show keeps you guessing about who is truly in control.

The series has four episodes and stars Eve Myles, known for her role in Keeping Faith, and Gabrielle Creevy, who appeared in Three Women. They play Fran, the boss, and Ria, the cleaner. Ria looks up to Fran and begins to follow her advice. But one of Fran’s suggestions leads to a shocking event that changes everything. After that, the two women become deeply involved in each other’s lives, caught in a web of secrets, lies, and dangerous choices.

Although it is an exciting thriller filled with tension, suspense, and unexpected twists, the show also explores serious real-life topics. Writer Matthew Barry, who also worked on Industry, says that the story looks at big social issues, such as class differences, social mobility (which means the ability to move from a lower to a higher position in society), and the growing gap between rich and poor. It illustrates how power and privilege can impact relationships, and how individuals in different social positions may use or influence each other in ways that are not always transparent.

The Guest’s release date

“The Guest” is a four-part drama series that will be released on BBC One in autumn 2025. It will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer. The exact release date has not been announced yet, but we will share an update as soon as it is confirmed.

The Guest plot details

“The Guest” focuses on the intense and unhealthy relationship between a successful businesswoman named Fran (played by Eve Myles) and her young employee, Ria (played by Gabrielle Creevy).

Ria is someone who has spent most of her life just trying to get by. She has never really had the chance to think about her future or what she truly wants. But everything changes when she starts working as a cleaner for Fran, a confident, powerful woman who seems to have it all together. Ria quickly becomes fascinated by Fran’s lifestyle, personality, and bold attitude.

Fran begins giving Ria advice, encouraging her to take charge of her own life. At first, this seems helpful. But one particular decision, based on Fran’s words, leads to something shocking, something that changes both of their lives.

After that moment, the two women become deeply connected, sharing dark secrets and getting pulled into risky situations. As the story unfolds, their relationship turns into a dangerous power struggle, like a game of cat and mouse. Each of them tries to stay one step ahead of the other. But the real question is: who is truly in control?
