The Devil Wears Prada 2 plot speculations
At this point, the official plot of The Devil Wears Prada sequel hasn’t been revealed, and the filmmakers are still keeping those details tightly under wraps. However, there’s already some interesting information and speculation that gives us a good idea of what the story might involve.
Early reports, particularly from the entertainment outlet Puck, suggest that the sequel will focus on Miranda Priestly, the powerful editor-in-chief played by Meryl Streep, who is now nearing the end of her career. This time around, she’ll be dealing with the challenges of an industry that’s rapidly changing, especially the decline of traditional print magazine publishing in the digital age. This could create a more vulnerable, complex version of Miranda, someone who once ruled the fashion world but now faces major professional and personal crossroads.
On the other hand, Emily Blunt’s character, Emily Charlton, who was Miranda’s ambitious and snarky assistant in the original film, is said to have made major strides in her career. She’s now reportedly an executive at a powerful luxury fashion conglomerate, similar to real-world giants like Kering or LVMH. Interestingly, Miranda is now dependent on this company for advertising money to keep her struggling magazine afloat, creating a dramatic reversal in their power dynamic. It’s likely that this shift will create fresh tension and character development, especially between these two strong-willed women.
There’s also a chance the film could draw inspiration from the book sequels written by Lauren Weisberger. One possibility is Revenge Wears Prada (2013), which picks up ten years after the original novel and follows Andrea’s life as she launches a bridal magazine. Another is When Life Gives You Lululemons (2018), which focuses on Emily Charlton and her journey through the glamorous yet chaotic world of suburban politics and PR. Either storyline could bring something new and entertaining to the screen.
For now, though, we’ll have to wait a bit longer for the official plot to be confirmed. But based on what’s been hinted so far, it sounds like the sequel will explore themes of power, legacy, change, and reinvention, all while keeping the sharp fashion-world edge that made the original such a classic.
