Broken Lizard’s comedy team has started work on Super Troopers 3. Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske wrote the script and will reprise their roles. Chandrasekhar will also direct, with Richard Perello producing. Principal photography is set to start later this week.

Brian Cox returns as Captain John O’Hagan, and Marisa Coughlan is back as Ursula Hanson. New cast members include Nat Faxon as Captain Todd Markowski, Chace Crawford as Baker Buchanan, and Andrew Dismukes as Coy Burns. The mix of returning and new actors brings both familiar faces and fresh comic energy to the franchise.

Searchlight Pictures praised the partnership, noting that Broken Lizard has been part of their family for over two decades. Matthew Greenfield, Searchlight’s president, said the series makes the absurd feel inevitable and that audiences can expect more joy and laughter from these characters.

The full core troupe and supporting players from the earlier films are returning. Broken Lizard’s past credits include Super Troopers (2001), Super Troopers 2 (2018), Club Dread, Beerfest, and The Slammin’ Salmon. Chandrasekhar hinted at the comedic tone, joking that it’s “mustache-growing time,” signaling the film will continue the franchise’s mix of broad comedy and quirky set pieces.

Executives overseeing the project are Apolline Berty, Richard Ruiz, and Daniel Yu, reporting to co-heads DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas. Representation for the main cast was also included in the announcement.
