Even though Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo takes place decades after the original series, Gege Akutami keeps referencing key characters and events from JJK. In the previous chapter, fans saw the return of Itadori Yuji. Now, there is a tease about the Black Rope, a cursed tool that once gave Gojo trouble, coming back for a very different purpose.
The Black Rope is famous from the battle between Gojo Satoru and Miguel during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons. Miguel was the first person to cancel Gojo’s Infinity technique using this special-grade cursed tool. However, the rope had a big limitation: the more it was used, the faster it disintegrated. After Miguel’s fight with Gojo, the Black Rope was already half destroyed. Later, Yuta and Miguel tried to retrieve it in Africa, but it completely vanished. If it had survived, it could have been used to free Gojo from the Prison Realm, as Tengen mentioned.
Now, seventy years later, the Black Rope exists again. Chapter 11 of JJK Modulo confirms that Miguel’s family must have recreated it over time. But this time, it is not meant for battle. Instead, Usami wants to use it to help humans and Simurians cooperate. Dabra’s sister has been cursed by the Deskunta Clan, and the Simurians have asked human sorcerers for help to lift the curse without harming her.
