Robert De Niro, an acclaimed actor known for his outspokenness, has never shied away from expressing his disdain for former President Donald Trump. Their ongoing feud spans various public events and comments made by both individuals over several years.
De Niro’s vocal criticism of Trump started before he took office. In 2016, during the #VoteYourFuture campaign, De Niro expressed strong disapproval of Trump, stating, “I mean, he’s so blatantly stupid. Well, I’d like to punch him in the face.” This sentiment continued through the years, with De Niro repeatedly making incendiary comments about Trump’s intelligence and actions.
At awards shows in 2018, De Niro called Trump a “f***ing idiot” and “a fool” while presenting awards. Trump responded on social media, mocking De Niro’s intelligence and implying that De Niro’s roles in boxing movies had resulted in brain damage.
In subsequent years, De Niro continued to voice his concerns about Trump, expressing fears about the possibility of Trump starting a war to remain in power if re-elected. He compared Trump to despotic rulers and labeled him as someone trying to embody a gangster persona without possessing morals or ethics.
Even as Trump was no longer in office, De Niro remained apprehensive about the potential consequences of a Trump presidency, emphasizing the importance of recognizing what he considered Trump’s danger to society.
Throughout their ongoing feud, De Niro has consistently criticized Trump’s character, actions, and suitability for office, while Trump has responded by attacking De Niro’s intelligence and professional reputation. Their exchange of barbs and criticisms reflects a longstanding public clash between two prominent figures in the entertainment and political spheres.
