Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. A year before its release, Marvel has dropped the first teaser, bringing back Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, the original Captain America.

The teaser thrilled MCU fans by showing Steve Rogers returning to his iconic role. It opens with him riding a motorcycle home while a piano version of the Avengers theme plays. He pauses to look at his Captain America gear, filled with nostalgia. Later, he’s seen holding a newborn baby, gazing at the child with pride. The teaser ends with the line, “Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday.”

In Marvel Comics, Steve Rogers from Earth-8342 has two children, Steve Rogers Jr. and Nicky Rogers. It raises the question of whether the MCU will explore more superpowered children in this new storyline.

Chris Evans last played Captain America in Avengers: Endgame. At the end of that film, Steve returned the Infinity Stones to their timelines but stayed in the past to reunite with Peggy Carter. He later appeared as an elderly man, passing on the Captain America mantle to Sam Wilson. Fans are now eager to see how his return will fit into the MCU’s evolving story.

Avengers: Doomsday is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and marks the 39th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The story takes place 14 months after Thunderbolts and introduces a powerful new threat in Doctor Doom. To stop him, multiple teams, including the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and the original X-Men, must unite.

Robert Downey Jr. plays Doctor Victor Von Doom, while several familiar faces will return, including Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, and Paul Rudd. The film promises an epic showdown that could reshape the MCU.
