Koo Hye Sun has publicly addressed the media’s continued use of her divorce from Ahn Jae Hyun for “public amusement.” In a statement on August 8, she criticized headlines marking “five years since the divorce” as unethical and hurtful, emphasizing that their split was never meant to be a public matter. The actress stressed that both she and Ahn Jae Hyun had agreed to keep the reasons for their separation private, and sensationalized references or jokes about it cause unnecessary pain.
She called out indirect remarks and blurbs about her as “cowardly acts,” stating that laughter at the expense of her discomfort is unacceptable. Koo Hye Sun also expressed a wish that Ahn Jae Hyun would achieve recognition on his own merits rather than being tied to her. Since the divorce, she has largely stepped away from the entertainment industry, focusing on her studies.
