Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose legal name is Daniel Hernandez, has found himself in legal turmoil once again after being charged with drug and firearm possession. The charges stem from a federal raid on his Florida home in March, during which law enforcement discovered MDMA, a bag containing cocaine residue, and a loaded Glock handgun reportedly hidden in a pool house.

Federal authorities stated that the discovery was made possible by information from a confidential informant, according to TMZ. Assistant United States Attorney involved in the case confirmed that the tip-off led directly to the incriminating evidence. However, 6ix9ine has pushed back strongly against the accusations, claiming that he is being “framed” by someone from his inner circle.

Speaking with TMZ, the rapper insisted that a former friend may have set him up and acted as the informant. His attorney, Lance Lazzaro, echoed his client’s confidence, stating that they believe the situation will be resolved favorably in court. For now, 6ix9ine has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court has already taken action ahead of the trial. On April 21, the presiding judge officially ordered that no firearms or ammunition be allowed on the premises where the rapper is staying. That same day, 6ix9ine appeared in open court and offered a public apology for the trouble surrounding the raid.

Authorities reportedly executed an aggressive and comprehensive search during the March operation—flipping over furniture and even collecting DNA samples to support the investigation. The surprise raid has intensified scrutiny on the controversial rapper, whose legal record is already extensive.

This is not 6ix9ine’s first brush with the justice system. In 2024, he served a month and a half in prison after violating the terms of his supervised release. At the time, he admitted guilt to five violations, including unauthorized travel to locations like Las Vegas and Sarasota. The judge in that case handed down a sentence longer than prosecutors had requested, noting that it was a cautionary measure in response to the rapper’s disregard for court-imposed boundaries.

With a court date set for May 22, 6ix9ine now faces the possibility of more serious legal consequences. His legal team is preparing to contest the charges, while speculation continues to swirl about the identity and motivations of the alleged informant.
