Taylor Swift has been defended by fans after some social media users questioned what they saw as “unusual” behavior during her fiancé Travis Kelce’s latest Kansas City Chiefs game.
The Chiefs faced the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday (14 September) for their first home game of the season. Swift, 35, attended to support Kelce, a familiar sight at Arrowhead Stadium, often dressed in team colors and cheering on the tight end.
This time, however, videos circulating online appeared to show the singer walking behind a large foldable screen, wheeled out by staff, seemingly to avoid being photographed. Some fans expressed confusion, noting that Swift had never used such measures at a Chiefs game before.
On Reddit and X, critics slammed the move, with some calling it “ridiculous” and “diva behavior.” One wrote: “Strangest thing I’ve ever seen… Not once has she been seen on the broadcast either. Very strange.”
Swift’s fans quickly rushed to her defense, suggesting it could be a security measure or simply a personal choice to avoid the cameras for a short walk. “Probably security. Maybe she’s had threats this week. Who knows?” commented one Redditor. Another added: “Maybe she got some bad news or something and wants to be in the same building as her fiancé but not have to deal with being famous. I’m not even a fan but if I was stupid rich I’d probably do the same thing.”
Others highlighted the pressures of constant public attention, noting that the barrier could simply have been a request for privacy: “This is a clear ‘please leave me alone’ for the 5 minutes it takes to get where she can comfortably enjoy her fiancé’s game… It doesn’t have to be a security fiasco, it can literally just be a request to be left alone.”
Fans concluded that, given her global fame, Swift’s desire for a brief moment of normalcy is understandable.
