Sydney Sweeney and Julianne Moore are set to bring intense family drama and high-octane thrills to Apple TV+ with Echo Valley, premiering June 13. The film dives into the emotional and ethical complexities of a mother’s love when pushed to the brink.

Moore plays Kate, a quiet Pennsylvania farm owner whose world is upended when her estranged daughter, Claire (Sweeney), arrives one night covered in blood. The film unravels the mystery surrounding Claire—whether she’s a victim or a dangerous manipulator—forcing Kate into an impossible moral dilemma.

Sweeney, known for her intense performances in Euphoria and The White Lotus, drew inspiration from personal experiences to portray Claire’s struggles with addiction. In an interview with Vanity Fair, she revealed:

“I’ve had a lot of family members deal with addiction and struggle with similar issues as Claire and her friends… I’ve kind of had firsthand experience with it.”

To prepare for the role, Sweeney studied hundreds of YouTube interviews with addicts, focusing on their body language and emotional depth. She noted that while addiction often involves manipulation, there remains a buried sense of love and identity beneath it all.

Despite its rural setting, Echo Valley is far from a quiet domestic drama. The thriller is packed with gripping action, intense fight sequences, and moments of physical and psychological resilience.

Filmed on a farm in New Jersey over six weeks, the project challenged both actresses. Sweeney even learned horseback riding for the role, an experience she described as thrilling.

With a gripping story and powerhouse performances, Echo Valley is shaping up to be a must-watch when it lands on Apple TV+ on June 13.
