Superman has finally arrived in theaters, and while fans were eagerly anticipating a post-credits tease that might shape the future of the DCEU, what they got was… a bit more subtle. There’s been some confusion around how many bonus scenes the movie actually includes. Despite reports of two, there’s just one official mid-credit scene that holds any narrative significance—and a second one placed later that barely qualifies as a proper post-credit scene.
The mid-credit moment reveals Milly Alcock’s Supergirl introducing the audience to her pet dog, Krypto, the beloved canine companion from the comics. Though this doesn’t reveal much in terms of plot progression, it does plant a charming seed for future appearances—especially considering the visual teaser of Superman and Krypto gazing at Earth together. This gentle yet playful nod is more sentimental than groundbreaking, but it does suggest a future alliance, perhaps even teasing the Superman: Legacy tone fans can expect moving forward.
As for the actual post-credit scene, James Gunn chose a far lighter, comedic tone. Superman (David Corenswet) and Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi) stand before a building that was first destroyed by Lex Luthor and later rebuilt by Mister Terrific’s company. What follows is a humorous back-and-forth between the two as they debate the architecture and aesthetics. Mister Terrific eventually storms off, irritated by Superman’s critique, leaving Clark to sheepishly reflect, saying he can be a “jerk” sometimes.
While fans might have hoped for a dramatic tease involving Brainiac, Lex Luthor’s deeper plans, or even a full reveal of the new Justice League setup, they’re instead left with a short character-based gag. It’s a post-credits scene that neither answers questions nor raises truly compelling ones. Rather than building suspense, it’s a nod to the banter-driven style James Gunn is known for.
In summary, there’s one mid-credit scene introducing Krypto and hinting at more interstellar dynamics, and a second, less impactful post-credit scene centered around Mister Terrific and Superman exchanging lighthearted quips. Whether these moments feel satisfying will likely depend on what fans were expecting—but as it stands, Superman chooses charm and humor over grand reveals.
