Production has started on Supacell Season 2, but Netflix hasn’t announced a release date; it probably will not arrive until late 2026 or early 2027.

The first season of This series, which was created by Rapman (Andrew Onwubolu), debuted on June 27, 2024, became a hit by making it into the Global Top 10 list of most popular shows on Netflix, received amazing reviews (including a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes at one point), and brought a fresh perspective on superpowers that relate to life in South London, represent the sickle cell disease community, and tell grounded stories. Netflix recommitted to producing a second season in August 2024.

Supacell season 2: Release Date

  • No official date announced. Production faced some delays but is now underway in London as of late 2025 (confirmed by Rapman in October 2025 with table read scripts and filming updates).
  • Expected window: Mid-to-late 2026 at the earliest, more realistically 2027, given the typical post-production timeline for a high-quality scripted series with VFX (Season 1 filmed in 2022 and released in mid-2024). Some reports note Netflix may slot bigger returns like this into 2027.
  • Rapman has reassured fans: “I PROMISE it will be worth the wait.”

Season 2 is expected to have around 6 episodes, like Season 1.

Supacell season 2: Cast

Returning main cast (expected):

  • Tosin Cole as Michael Lasaki (the central teleporter/time-traveler driven by loss)
  • Nadine Mills as Sabrina Clarke
  • Eric Kofi-Abrefa as Andre
  • Calvin Demba as Rodney
  • Josh Tedeku as Tazer (Josh)
  • Yasmin Monet Prince as Veronica
  • Eddie Marsan as Ray
  • Others like Rayxia Ojo (Sharleen), Giacomo Mancini (Spud), and more from Season 1’s ensemble.

New cast additions (announced March 2026):

  • Frank Bourke (His Dark Materials, Toxic Town) as Peter
  • Tiana Simone (Stranger Things: The First Shadow) as Nia
  • Richard Keep (FBI: International, UK dramas) as Mark
  • Ed Allenby as Brian

Netflix hasn’t detailed their roles or how large they are, but they expand the ensemble in this superpower-filled world.

Directors: Rapman returns as showrunner/creator and director for some episodes; Koby Adom (Top Boy, Noughts + Crosses) joins to direct episodes.

Note: Some reports mention potential adjustments due to real-world events involving cast (e.g., Ghetts), but core returns are locked in.

Supacell season 2: Story and What to Expect

In Season 1, we followed five average citizens of South London who all had family histories of Sickle Cell Disease. These five develop superpowers — teleportation/time travel, telekinesis, super strength, invisibility, and healing powers — and band together to fight against a mysterious evil organisation known as ‘The Hunters’, who are seeking to hunt down and bring to experimentation people whom they feel are ‘Supacells’. Lastly, the season finishes with Michael losing Dionne, which causes him to want revenge, saying, “When I come back, I’m gonna make all those bastards pay.”

A few hints for Season 2:

In an interview, Rapman said that his first season is his ‘Batman Begins’, which serves as a point of origin or set up for all five characters. In the second season, the audience will see these characters fully fleshed out and how their decisions made throughout the story will change what happens to them in the future, as shown in the original visions they received.

Expect season 2 to be much darker and more intense as Michael goes from being the anchor that gave everyone the motivation to continue, to being someone who has lost everything due to grief and his own superpowers, and wants revenge on The Hunters. In addition, as they move from finding out about their powers to actually using them to their full potential, we can expect much larger action sequences and weight of moral consequences.

In the long run, Rapman has a three-season arc in mind, and the end of Season 2 will definitely lead into Season 3, and the overall tone of the series will get “very, very dark,” along with the evil organisation’s experiments and stalking of our Supacell family.

The world of the story will remain firmly rooted in the reality of the South London Black British experience, while incorporating elements of Sci-fi and Superheroism.

As of April 2026, no trailers or first-look images have been released yet. You can stay up-to-date with the latest by checking out Netflix Tudum, Rapman’s Instagram, or What’s on Netflix. The lengthy wait is likely due to production timing, but there’s an indication that the creative team’s enthusiasm should serve as encouragement to anticipate another season that has combined drama, action, and heart in a way that no other show has before.
