Stock market today: S&P 500 slips by 0.24% while NASDAQ 100 inch higher by 1.24% as trading began on Tuesday morning

As of 9:39 AM EST, the U.S. stock market has displayed a mixed trend in early trading today, with major indices reacting differently. As investors are assessing  the newly announced tariffs by the Trump administration on steel and aluminium imports. 

The S&P 500 stood at 6,052.17 USD, reflecting a 0.24% decline. The tech heavy NASDAQ 100 Index reflected gains as it surged to 21,756.73 USD, marking a 1.24% increase,

The Dow Jones Industrial Average Index also saw a dip, reaching 44,381.79 USD, down by 0.20%. However, the tech-sector continued to inch higher as the NASDAQ Composite Index climbed to 19,714.27 USD, gaining 0.98%. Meanwhile, the NYSE Composite Index recorded a downturn, as it was trading at 20,054.90 USD, a drop of 0.31%.
