Stock market today: S&P 500 rose slightly by 0.13% while NASDAQ 100 dipped by 0.84% as investors assess impact of tariff imposition

As of 9:39 AM EST, the stock market displayed mixed movements this morning as investors reacted to tariffs news and earnings reports. U.S. President Donald Trump has halted 25% imposition of import tariffs on Canada and Mexico after he had a brief discussion with Canadian PM Justin Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. China has reacted to U.S. import tariffs by imposing retaliatory tariffs of 15% on America. 

The S&P 500 edged up slightly to 6,002.11, marking a 0.13% increase. Meanwhile, the NASDAQ 100 Index declined to 21,297.58, experiencing a 0.84% drop. The Dow Jones Industrial Average Index also saw a minor dip, falling to 44,367.81, reflecting a 0.12% decrease.

The broader technology-heavy NASDAQ Composite Index struggled, slipping to 19,391.96, down 1.20%. However, the NYSE Composite Index remained nearly flat but in positive territory, rising to 19,879.20, with a marginal 0.04% gain.
