Stock market today: S&P 500 posted gains of 0.44% while NASDAQ 100 declined by 0.24% as investors await fourth-quarter GDP data

The S&P 500 edged higher to settle at 6,065.61 USD, marking a 0.44% increase.

As of 9:39 AM EST today, the stock market displayed a mixed performance as trading began on Thursday morning. Investors are waiting for the fourth-quarter GDP data which will most likely show economic growth dipped to a 2.5% annual rate. 

The S&P 500 edged higher to settle at 6,065.61 USD, marking a 0.44% increase. On the other hand, tech-heavy indices struggled in early trading. The NASDAQ 100 Index slipped to 21,411.46 USD, down 0.24%.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average also posted marginal gains, rising to 44,802.18 USD, as it was up by 0.20%. Meanwhile, the NASDAQ Composite Index fell to 19,632.32 USD, recording a 0.51% decline. However,  NYSE Composite Index outperformed other indices by climbing to 20,104.1777 USD, an increase of 0.89%.
