Stock market today: S&P 500 dropped by just 0.32% while NASDAQ 100 posted gains of 1.59% in early trading

As of 9:44 AM EST today, the stock market displayed mixed performance across major indices as investors await for the release of Federal Reserve interest rates. Investors are anticipating that the Federal Reserve will most likely keep the interest rates unchanged between the range of 4.25% to 4.50%. 

The S&P 500 saw a slight decline, falling to 6,048.21 USD, marking a drop of 0.32%. Meanwhile, the tech heavy NASDAQ 100 Index surged to 21,463.04 USD, marking an impressive increase of 1.59%.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average remained nearly flat, edging up to 44,856.90 USD with a marginal gain of 0.01%. The NASDAQ Composite Index also performed well, climbing to 19,733.59 USD, up by 2.03%.

Over at the New York Stock Exchange, the NYSE Composite Index showed a modest gain, reaching 19,988.78 USD, reflecting an increase of 0.09%.

Overall the indices have marked slight changes as trading began on Wednesday as compared to the past two days of trading.
