The new romance comedy Dynamite Kiss is finally here and fans have been excited ever since Jang Ki Yong and Ahn Eun Jin were announced as the leads. The show premiered on November 12 and now airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 9 pm KST. It is also available on Netflix for global viewers.
The drama begins slowly as it takes time to show the daily lives of the two main characters. But it does not drag for too long. The leads meet quickly and the kiss that inspired the title happens at the end of the very first episode. It is filmed beautifully. Ahn Eun Jin’s Cinderella like moment feels like a classic scene that fans will remember for a long time.
However the dialogue is one big issue. Some lines feel awkward and even cringey. There are moments where you wonder how the actors managed to say those lines with a straight face. Hopefully the writing improves as the episodes continue.
Ahn Eun Jin shines the most in her role as Go Da Rim. She switches between sadness responsibility and charm so naturally. Jang Ki Yong’s Kong Ji Hyeok feels a bit flat in comparison. His character is supposed to be a confident tech genius but he has not blended into the role smoothly yet.
The story follows Go Da Rim and Kong Ji Hyeok who share an unexpected kiss that changes everything. Soon after she applies to his company but lies on her resume saying she is married with a child to take care of. She does this to get a stable job and support her family. She ends up joining the baby products team where Ji Hyeok is her boss. He believes she is married. She starts catching feelings for him. This makes everything messy and emotional.
The cast includes Jang Ki Yong Ahn Eun Jin Kim Mu Jun and Woo Da Vi. Kim Mu Jun plays Kim Sun Woo who is Go Da Rim’s neighbor and close friend. He has a son from a previous marriage and agrees to act as her fake husband when needed. Woo Da Vi plays Yoo Ha Young the youngest daughter of a wealthy family. She is supposed to marry Ji Hyeok but she starts falling for Sun Woo instead.
Dynamite Kiss has a fun spark and a strong cast. If the dialogue improves it could turn into a very lovable romance.
