Even though Squid Game ended with its final season, the thrill isn’t over. Netflix is expanding the universe with spinoffs, and the first one is Squid Game: America. Filming is set to begin in Los Angeles on February 26, 2026, according to a listing on the Film and Television Industry Alliance website.
The show will bring a US version of the hit Korean series. David Fincher is listed as director, with Hwang Dong-hyuk and Kim Ji-yeon as producers. Dennis Kelly will handle the writing, and Cate Blanchett, who appeared in the post-credit scene of the Squid Game finale, is the only confirmed cast member so far.
The spinoff picks up right after the events of the final season, showing how the deadly games are run in America. It’s unclear if any original characters will return, but fans can expect a fresh take on the same world we loved in Squid Game.
