Spotify has officially introduced its cutting-edge AI playlist builder to users in the United States, representing a notable expansion of a feature that has generated significant buzz since its initial release in the UK and Australia earlier this year. This feature, which allows users to create personalized playlists based on their text descriptions, is now available to Premium Spotify subscribers in the U.S., Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand. With Premium subscriptions starting at $5.99 per month for students and $11.99 for individuals, more listeners can now enjoy the tailored music experience provided by the AI Playlist.

Subscribers can utilize the AI playlist builder by launching the mobile app and selecting the “+” button located in the upper right corner of their Spotify library. By selecting “AI Playlist” from the drop-down menu, users will open a chat box where they can describe the type of playlist they wish to create. Whether it’s “spooky songs to play during Halloween” or “soothing folk music for a chill bath time,” the AI Playlist feature offers suggested prompts to help guide users. It’s important to note that this beta version is currently not available on Spotify’s desktop or web apps.

The AI-generated playlists consist of 30 songs, and users can refine their selections further with additional prompts. For instance, users can request a more upbeat collection or specify genres, decades, moods, or particular artists to enhance the playlist’s alignment with their desires. Interestingly, the AI is capable of responding to even niche requests, such as creating a playlist that evokes the vibe of a “vampire hunter from Blade (1998).”

Spotify emphasizes that the AI Playlist feature is still in its beta phase, stating it is “actively learning and iterating with each exchange.” This commitment to continuous improvement suggests that users can expect future enhancements that will further refine the AI Playlist experience.

With this exciting expansion, Spotify’s AI playlist builder continues to evolve, offering a personalized music journey that adapts to the unique preferences of its listeners.
