Spock’s love life gets messy in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3

Spock’s romantic life is definitely heating up this season on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. And we’re only four episodes in.

At the start of the season, Nurse Chapel leaves for a fellowship and tells Spock not to wait around for her. So he doesn’t. But things get complicated when she comes back in Episode 2, with a new boyfriend, Dr. Roger Korby. That same episode, thanks to the mischief of Trelane, we briefly see a strange vision of Spock and Chapel’s wedding. After that chaos settles, Spock starts spending more time with La’an. She teaches him how to dance, and during those lessons, they grow surprisingly close.

Fast forward to Episode 4, titled A Space Adventure Hour, and that closeness turns into something more. During one of their dance sessions, Spock and La’an share a kiss.

So, where does Spock actually stand when it comes to his feelings in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds?

Ethan Peck, who plays Spock, says it’s all a bit complicated. “I think it’s just an internal reorganisation,” he told Swooon. “Nothing really disappears in the mind. His feelings for Chapel are still there, but he’s also figuring out new feelings and connections, especially as he’s learning more about being human. Chapel was a big part of that journey.”

Executive producer Henry Alonso Myers shared that Spock and Chapel still have something meaningful. “It’s casual, but mature,” he explained. “Their connection still matters, and the dancing becomes more important than you’d expect as they deal with some really hard stuff later on.”

Interestingly, that kiss between Spock and La’an was supposed to happen even earlier. Producer Akiva Goldsman told TV Insider that it was originally in Episode 2, during the dance lesson. “There was an almost-kiss in that scene, but we ended up cutting it. It was tricky because the way it was filmed, their chemistry was so obvious. But in the end, we decided it was better to slow things down and build the tension.”

So now, fans are left wondering, where is all of this going? Is Spock moving on? Or are we just in the middle of a classic Star Trek love triangle?

Let us know what you think about Spock’s relationships with Chapel and La’an. Things are definitely getting complicated.
