The Canadian stock markets saw positive movement at the start of trading, with major indices showing gains across the board. At the time of reporting, several key indices recorded modest increases, signaling a positive opening for investors.

The benchmark S&P/TSX Composite Index opened at 24,348.22, marking a gain of 93.06 points, or +0.38%. The index experienced a high of 24,348.22 and a low of 24,215.05.

The S&P/TSX Smallcap Index also saw an increase, with a rise of 5.35 points, or +0.65%, bringing it to 830.02. This index reported a low of 823.66 earlier in trading.

Meanwhile, the S&P/TSX Venture Index recorded a +0.38% gain, moving up 2.30 points to reach 606.25. This index noted a high of 608.62 and a low of 602.77 during the opening.

The S&P/TSX Completion Index showed similar positive movement, climbing 8.04 points to 1,484.48, or a +0.54% increase. This index fluctuated between a high of 1,484.48 and a low of 1,474.57.

Lastly, the S&P/TSX 60 Index, which represents the largest companies on the TSX, gained 4.99 points to hit 1,455.04, marking a +0.34% increase. Its low at opening was recorded at 1,447.36.
