Sophie Turner, known for her role in Game of Thrones, has opened up about the emotional toll of her divorce from Joe Jonas. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, published on October 30, the 28-year-old actress discussed the profound sadness surrounding the end of their marriage, which was finalized in September.
Turner described her feelings during this tumultuous time, stating, “I’m going through a legal process right now where I can’t really say much, but it was incredibly sad. We had a beautiful relationship, and it was hard.” She emphasized the importance of her return to England, saying, “I’m so happy to be back… It felt as if my life was on pause until I returned to England.”
The actress reflected on her time spent away from London, admitting, “I just never really feel like myself when I’m not in London, with my friends and family.” Having lived in the U.S. for six years, she felt a sense of loss for the key experiences she missed with her friends during significant moments in their lives, such as engagements and her own pregnancies.
Turner, who shares two daughters with Jonas—Willa, 4, and Delphine, 2—also discussed the guilt she feels as a mother, particularly during her time away from her children while filming Joan. “Mom guilt is so real!” she stated, emphasizing her determination to silence negative thoughts about her parenting.
In her interview, Turner mentioned the cultural adjustments she faced while living in the U.S., expressing her longing for British comforts. “Every city we ended up in, the first thing I’d do was find a British shop and stock up on a month’s worth of chocolate,” she said. She also touched on the stress of living in a country grappling with issues like gun violence and the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
Recently, Turner celebrated her boyfriend Peregrine Pearson’s 30th birthday, sharing her joy on social media with a heartfelt message: “Happy Birthday my angel pie 🥧 🎉. 30, flirty and thriving 🎈.” As she embarks on this new chapter in her life, Turner appears to be finding strength and happiness in her relationships and return to her roots.
As Sophie Turner navigates the complexities of divorce and motherhood, her candid reflections offer a glimpse into her resilience and commitment to embracing life in her own way. With a renewed sense of purpose and support from loved ones, Turner is poised to thrive in this next stage of her journey.
