Sony has officially announced that the next State of Play broadcast is scheduled for tomorrow, May 30, 2024. This eagerly anticipated presentation promises to unveil details on 14 titles for both PlayStation 5 and PSVR 2.
In a succinct post on the official PlayStation blog, Sony shared insights into what viewers can expect from the broadcast. The State of Play will offer updates on PS5 and PSVR 2 titles, along with a sneak peek at upcoming PlayStation Studios games slated for release later this year.
Spanning over half an hour, the show is set to commence at 15:00 PT / 18:00 ET / 23:00 BST and will be accessible for viewing on YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok. However, Sony has issued a small advisory for co-streamers and those interested in providing video-on-demand (VOD) coverage, hinting at the possibility of copyrighted content during the stream.
The standout detail of the announcement lies in the promise of insights into “PlayStation Studios games” scheduled for later in the year. With a relatively sparse first-party release schedule thus far, the community is eager to uncover Sony’s plans for the latter half of the year.
Recent rumors have sparked speculation about a potential new Astro Bot game in development, raising hopes for its appearance during the State of Play. Considering Sony’s somewhat lackluster support for PSVR 2, the revelation of new compatible games could be a significant highlight.
Additionally, earlier reports hinted at the development of a PC adapter for PSVR 2 by Sony, suggesting the possibility of initial details being shared during the broadcast. Furthermore, there’s a slight chance that the long-awaited PS5 Pro might make an appearance, especially given its anticipated release later this year. If indeed in the works, an announcement during this State of Play would not come as a surprise.
