Senator Ted Cruz has issued a stark warning about what he believes will happen if Vice President Kamala Harris becomes president. According to Cruz, Harris would shift dramatically to the “hard, hard left” and pursue an aggressive progressive agenda that, in his view, would harm the country. His comments reflect ongoing concerns among Republicans about the direction a Harris presidency might take, particularly as the 2024 election looms.
In a recent interview, Cruz criticized Harris for what he perceives as her alignment with the more liberal factions of the Democratic Party. “If Kamala Harris gets into the White House, she’s going to revert to the hard, hard left,” Cruz said. He warned that her administration would embrace policies like higher taxes, aggressive climate change measures, expanded government programs, and more lenient immigration policies—positions that align with the progressive wing of the party.
Cruz’s remarks come as the Republican Party ramps up its messaging ahead of the 2024 election, intending to paint Harris as a leader who would cater to the far left. He argued that despite her current position as vice president under Joe Biden, Harris has deep roots in the progressive movement, pointing to her time as a senator from California, where she supported Medicare for All and other progressive causes.
The Texas senator’s comments echo the broader concerns many conservatives have about Harris, especially regarding economic and social policies. “Her vision for America is one where government controls every aspect of your life,” Cruz added. “That’s not the America most people want.”
Harris, for her part, has presented herself as a moderate within the Biden administration, focusing on issues like immigration reform, voting rights, and economic recovery. While Republicans have characterized her as far-left, Harris has generally maintained a pragmatic approach during her vice presidency, advocating for policies that balance progressive goals with broader national interests.
Despite Cruz’s criticisms, Harris’s supporters argue that her policies focus on addressing systemic inequalities and promoting opportunity for all Americans. They view her potential presidency as a chance to further advance important reforms in areas like healthcare, climate action, and social justice.
