In a recent installment of her Food Network series, “Selena + Chef: Home for the Holidays,” Selena Gomez found herself blushing when caught texting what was teased as “a cute boy,” causing a near kitchen disaster as her cake almost went up in smoke. Joining her for the season finale was guest chef Adjepong, adding more fun to the mix.
Caught off guard by her covert texting, Gomez tried to keep it low-key when co-host Raquelle Stevens inquired, but her suppressed smile gave it away. The actress, known for her role in “Only Murders in the Building,” acknowledged the challenges of dating with a casual “It’s hard out there.” However, her co-host’s playful probing led to Gomez playfully asking him to stop, hinting at some hidden conversations.
During the episode’s climax, another amusing moment unfolded when Stevens asked about the cake’s status, reminding Gomez about the timer she was supposed to set. This reminder made Gomez realize her oversight, with the show’s editing humorously emphasizing her distraction, highlighting her intent to set the timer but getting sidetracked by a text to a “mystery recipient.”
Despite Gomez’s minor mishap, Chef Adjepong assured her that the cake wasn’t ruined, calming her concerns. With a slightly overbaked cake retrieved, he reassured her that it was alright, leading Stevens to humorously remark that he was just being polite. Yet, Adjepong insisted he genuinely liked it a bit overdone.
Gomez didn’t shy away from cracking jokes about her relationship status during the show. Referencing her recent Instagram post revealing her involvement with music producer Benny Blanco, she teased about her newfound romance in the finale episode. This wasn’t the first time Gomez hinted at her romantic life; she playfully hinted at having a crush in the premiere episode and humorously indicated her single status when discussing wedding registries with chef Alex Guarnaschelli.
Moreover, in an earlier episode with chef Claudette Zepeda, Gomez clarified her unmarried status while expressing her aspirations for a family in the future, shedding light on her reasons for launching Selena+Chef as a means to slow down and eventually build a family.
