Selena Gomez can’t wait to walk down the aisle and officially become Mrs. Benny Blanco. The singer and actress recently opened up about her engagement and future wedding during an appearance on Therapuss with Jake Shane on Wednesday, August 6, and she couldn’t hold back her excitement. “I couldn’t be more excited,” Gomez gushed, making it clear just how ready she is for the next chapter.

The couple announced their engagement on December 11, 2024, after about a year of dating, though their connection goes back much further. Gomez and Blanco first crossed paths in 2019 when they worked together on the track I Can’t Get Enough. What started as a creative partnership slowly blossomed into something more, and now the two are planning forever together. Gomez admitted she feels completely confident in her choice. “I just have never really felt so sure about something,” she shared.

For now, wedding planning isn’t in full swing just yet. Both Gomez and Blanco are focused on their own careers and projects, and they’ve agreed to start digging into the details once things calm down. “We’re in the middle of our own personal endeavors,” Gomez explained. “Once those wrap up, we’ll get into all the nitty-gritty of planning the wedding.” Blanco echoed that sentiment when he appeared on the same podcast a month earlier, saying, “We’re working on so many things that we haven’t even had time to get into it, but we’re so excited.”

As for how they went from co-workers to soulmates, Gomez has been refreshingly candid. After working together, she once jokingly asked Blanco to set her up with someone “cute.” Instead, he invited her to one of his famous “dinner nights” with friends. One thing led to another, and soon enough, they were dating. Gomez laughed about how hesitant Blanco was at first. “He was terrified in the beginning because he’s like, ‘It’s work and it’s comedy and people are gonna get mad,’” she recalled. Her response? “I don’t give a s—, kiss me.”

And while the wedding may still be in the early planning stages, Gomez already knows one detail she wants to make sure is on the menu. Skipping the traditional towering cake, she revealed in a Rare Beauty interview that her dream dessert would be none other than biscuits and gravy. She’s still open to having a small wedding cake for tradition’s sake—mainly so she and Blanco can save a piece in the freezer—but the comfort-food favorite is definitely at the top of her list.
