Selena Gomez recently opened up about her childhood crush, surprising fans with a nostalgic and unexpected confession. During an episode of GOAT Talk with Karol G, the Only Murders in the Building star revealed that Ice Cube held a special place in her heart as a young girl.
“But can I tell you my first one that I had a crush on? Ice Cube,” Gomez shared with a laugh. She added that her admiration wasn’t romantic in the traditional sense, but rooted in the feeling that he would “protect” her. “I had the biggest crush on him. I was, like, five. It’s so weird but I just thought he would protect me,” she explained, tying her early affection to a childlike sense of safety and admiration.
In addition to revealing her childhood crush, Gomez also gushed about her favorite rapper—Eminem. She recalled how her father, a DJ, used to remix songs during her childhood, and that Eminem’s music always excited her. “One of mine was Eminem only because I grew up listening to my dad, who was a DJ… every time it was an Eminem song, I would just get so excited,” she said.
