Sean “Diddy” Combs, who has been incarcerated since September 2024, is facing serious charges in his upcoming federal trial, including sex trafficking. As the trial date approaches, the rap mogul is reportedly assembling a larger and more diversified legal team. According to sources close to the case, Diddy is specifically looking for a Black female attorney to join his defense team, a move designed to infuse a commanding legal presence in his defense strategy.
Currently, Diddy’s legal team consists of veteran attorneys Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, both of whom are white. His defense team has already framed the case as racially charged, arguing that the federal government is unfairly targeting a rich and powerful Black man. The addition of a Black female attorney is not just symbolic but intended to bring an effective legal force to the table as the case heads to court.
Diddy’s previous attorney, Anthony Ricco, who was once part of his legal team, stepped down for reasons that remain unclear, prompting the urgent need for additional legal support. In a recent development, renowned attorney Brian Steel, who famously defended Young Thug in the YSL RICO case, has joined Diddy’s defense team. Additionally, Mark Geragos, another experienced attorney, is expected to play a key role in the case.
The legal battle intensified in April when additional charges were brought against Diddy, including accusations related to a new alleged victim. Despite these serious charges, Diddy has pleaded not guilty to all allegations. His trial is set to begin on May 5, 2025, and his defense team is preparing for what promises to be a high-profile and contentious legal battle.
