Sean “Diddy” Combs appeared in a Manhattan federal courtroom on Monday as his highly publicized sex-trafficking trial officially got underway with jury selection nearing completion and opening statements about to start. The 54-year-old music mogul was joined by almost all of his children and his mother, Janice Combs, who came to show their support during this intense legal moment.
Diddy walked into the courtroom dressed casually yet neatly—in a light gray crew neck sweater, matching pants, and a white shirt. When he saw his family, he placed his hand over his heart, smiled warmly, made a heart shape with his hands, and shared hugs with his legal team. He also shook hands with the jury consultant Linda Moreno and blew a kiss to one of his sons before taking his seat.
All of Diddy’s kids were present except for his youngest daughter, three-year-old Love. His older children—including Quincy Brown, Christian “King” Combs, Justin Combs, Chance Combs, and twins Jessie and D’Lila Combs—have been vocal about their support, both on social media and in court.
In a statement released by Quincy Brown on behalf of the family, he expressed how hard the past month has been: “The past month has devastated our family. Many have judged both him and us based on accusations, conspiracy theories, and false narratives that have spiraled into absurdity on social media.” He added, “We stand united, supporting you every step of the way. We hold onto the truth, knowing it will prevail, and nothing will break the strength of our family. WE MISS YOU & LOVE YOU DAD.”
Inside the courtroom, Diddy appeared calm and focused as he reviewed legal paperwork with his attorney, Teny Geragos.
One of the key witnesses expected to testify is Diddy’s former girlfriend, singer Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura. The defense plans to argue that their relationship was marked by mutual violence. Meanwhile, prosecutors revealed they have been unable to contact one alleged victim, dubbed “Victim 3,” who is now unlikely to testify.
Monday’s session will start by finalizing jury selection—a process delayed since the previous Friday—before moving on to opening statements. Prosecutors accuse Diddy of coercing women into drug-fueled group sex and using violence to keep control, setting the stage for a tense and closely watched trial.
