Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing a serious federal trial on sex trafficking charges, and it looks like he’s going to spend a crazy amount of money—over \$10 million—on his legal defense. The trial officially started this week with jury selection, and Diddy has assembled a top-notch legal team to fight for him.
He’s got a whole crew of lawyers, including some big names like Mark Geragos and Tina Glandian, who are even overseeing the jury from the courtroom balcony. Plus, there’s a jury consultant, Linda Moreno, helping to pick the right jurors by analyzing their backgrounds and personalities.
According to Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor and founder of West Coast Trial Lawyers, hiring such high-profile criminal defense attorneys in complicated federal cases typically costs a fortune. She said that top lawyers often charge a retainer fee of \$1 million or more upfront, and with Diddy’s reported net worth around \$1 billion, it’s no surprise he’s assembling a “small army” of legal experts.
Rahmani also broke down the costs further, saying the trial is expected to last about two months, and the daily expenses—covering lawyers, paralegals, assistants, expert witnesses, and consultants—could easily top \$100,000 per day.
An insider close to Diddy confirmed that while not all legal fees are public, the total will definitely run into the millions.
As for the case itself, the jury selection process is set to finish by May 12, with the actual trial kicking off the following week. So, this legal battle is just getting started, and it’s going to be a long and expensive fight.
