It’s the end of an era for Sex and the City fans. Sarah Jessica Parker has said goodbye to her beloved character, Carrie Bradshaw, as the makers confirmed that season 3 of And Just Like That will be the final chapter of the long-running franchise.
Taking to Instagram, Parker shared a heartfelt message reflecting on the 27 years she has spent playing the iconic New York writer.
“Carrie Bradshaw Has Dominated My Professional Heartbeat”
In her emotional note, Parker wrote: “Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years. I think I have loved her most of all.” She went on to acknowledge the many ways viewers have connected with the character: “I know others have loved her just as I have. Been frustrated, condemned and rooted for her. The symphony of all those emotions has been the greatest soundtrack and most consequential companion.”
Parker expressed her deep gratitude to fans and described And Just Like That as a “joyous adventure” that gave her the chance to work with brilliant co-stars and storytellers.
Kristin Davis Shares Her Sadness
Parker’s co-star Kristin Davis, who has played Charlotte York since the franchise began, also shared her thoughts as the series nears its end. “I am profoundly sad. I love our whole beautiful cast and crew. 400 artisans working so hard on our show with deep love. And to our loyal fans, we love you forever and ever,” Davis wrote in her own heartfelt note.
Why the Ending Was Kept Under Wraps
The announcement of the show’s conclusion arrived just as season 3 hit screens. According to the showrunner, the team intentionally delayed the news: “We didn’t want the word ‘final’ to overshadow the fun of watching the season. It’s with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years.”
