Warner Bros. has confirmed that Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman will reprise their iconic roles as the Owens sisters in Practical Magic 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 1998 cult classic. The announcement came with a magical teaser video on Instagram, featuring a haunting chant from both stars:
“Tooth of wolf and morning dew,” Kidman intones.
“Something old and something new,” Bullock adds.
Together, they conclude, “Let the spell begin to mix. Sept. 18, 2026.”
The original Practical Magic, based on Alice Hoffman’s 1995 novel, followed the Owens sisters navigating life, love, and a family curse that doomed the men they loved. Though it received mixed reviews and modest box office success, the film grew a devoted fan base over the years.
The sequel’s plot details remain under wraps but are said to draw inspiration from a later book in Hoffman’s Practical Magic series. The film will be directed by Susanne Bier with a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman, co-writer of the first movie. Bullock, Kidman, and Denise Di Novi (producer of the original) will also produce.
Fans eagerly await news on which other cast members might return, with hopes for familiar faces alongside the new additions.
Practical Magic 2 is set to release on September 18, 2026—the same day Sony plans to launch the Resident Evil reboot—marking an exciting date for fantasy and thriller fans alike.
With the reunion of two Oscar-winning actresses and Warner Bros. fully committed, this sequel is shaping up to be one of the most buzzed-about fantasy films of 2026.
