Fans of classic ’90s action thrillers, get ready—Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves are back together on screen! The two actors, who originally blew audiences away with their hit movie Speed, are reuniting for a brand-new project at Amazon MGM Studios.
According to Entertainment Weekly, this exciting new film is an untitled romantic thriller described as “propulsive,” meaning it will be fast-paced and full of energy. The screenplay is written by Noah Oppenheim, known for his work on Jackie and The Maze Runner—so expect something compelling.
Adding even more star power to the project, Mark Gordon, who produced Speed as well as big movies like Saving Private Ryan and The Patriot, is involved as a producer again. Sandra Bullock, Keanu Reeves, Oppenheim, and producers Bibby Dunn and Sarah Bremner are all part of the team bringing this film to life.
Speed was a massive hit when it came out, making around $350 million worldwide, which was huge, especially since the movie only cost about $30 million to make. It was a big moment for both stars. For Keanu Reeves, who had risen to fame with Point Break in 1991, Speed helped solidify his place as a major Hollywood action star. And for Sandra Bullock, the movie helped her break into the mainstream after several smaller roles.
Speed was also the directorial debut of Jan de Bont, who was already famous for his work as a cinematographer on classics like Die Hard.
This won’t be the first time Bullock and Reeves have worked together since Speed. They also starred in The Lake House in 2006, a romantic fantasy drama and remake of a South Korean film.
So, with this new Amazon MGM thriller, fans can look forward to seeing these two legends team up again—this time, in what promises to be a fresh, thrilling story full of romance and suspense.
