Samsung launches One UI 6.1.1 with improved Galaxy AI and system enhancements

Samsung has begun rolling out its One UI 6.1.1 update for select Galaxy devices, bringing various improvements and features based on Android 14. While One UI 6.1.1 is considered a minor update, it introduces new Galaxy AI functionalities and system enhancements. Users can expect One UI 7, based on Android 15, to bring more significant changes in the future.

Among the key additions in One UI 6.1.1 are enhanced Galaxy AI features. These include “Listening Mode” in the Interpreter, “Composer” for Chat Assist, and “Suggested Replies” from the Galaxy Z Flip 6, which are now available on select other devices, including the Galaxy S24 series. The Samsung Notes app now features “PDF Overlay Translation” and several upgrades to Note Assist. A new “Sketch to Image” function allows users to add content to an image based on a rough sketch. Additionally, a dedicated section for Galaxy AI has been added to the Settings app, making it easier for users to access and manage AI-related features.

System-wide enhancements accompany these new features. Users will experience improved animations, app updates, and better support for new accessories. Notably, the audio features on the Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro require the One UI 6.1.1 update to function optimally.

Samsung is rolling out the One UI 6.1.1 update gradually, alongside monthly security patches. As of September 20, 2024, the following devices have received the update: Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and several Galaxy Tab models, including the S9 and S8 series. Devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 come with One UI 6.1.1 pre-installed.

Users awaiting the update can check their Samsung Galaxy devices by navigating to Settings > Software update and selecting “Download and install” to see if it’s ready. Samsung is expected to extend the One UI 6.1.1 update to more Galaxy smartphones and tablets over time, including mid-range devices and older flagship models.
