Samsung has included an interesting footnote in the press releases for its latest devices, including the Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Tab S10 Plus, and Galaxy S10 Ultra, that hints at a future where some AI-powered features could come with a price tag. According to SamMobile, the notice states: “Fees may apply to certain AI features at the end of 2025.” While this statement is somewhat vague, it signals that Samsung may start charging for some of its Galaxy AI functionalities in the near future.
This isn’t entirely new, as a similar disclaimer was present when Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S24 series earlier this year. However, it confirms that Samsung is sticking to its plan to monetize certain AI features. What’s still unclear is exactly which features will require a fee or how much it will cost. Samsung hasn’t shared those details yet, but they have indicated that more AI tools are on the way.
The Growing Trend of Paid AI Features
Charging for AI features is becoming more common, given the immense computing power and energy required to run these tools. For example, both Google and OpenAI (the company behind ChatGPT) offer advanced AI services through paid subscriptions. ChatGPT Plus, for instance, costs $20 per month, and rumors suggest that this price could rise significantly in the coming years. Apple is also moving in this direction, with free Apple Intelligence features being rolled out soon, but there’s speculation that more advanced AI capabilities could eventually be bundled into a paid Apple One subscription.
For now, Samsung’s AI-powered tools—such as image editing, live translations, and note summaries—are still free. However, if you find yourself using these features frequently, it’s worth keeping in mind that they could come with a cost in the future.
