Robert De Niro’s former assistant wins over $1 million after explosive NYC court battle

Robert De Niro’s company Canal Productions was found liable for gender discrimination and retaliation against his former longtime personal assistant, Graham Chase Robinson, in the pair’s civil trial.

After going through almost five hours of deliberation, the jury in New York City federal court reached the decision, on Thursday, and ordered Canal, which the actor formed to look after his business and personal needs, to pay the 41-year-old former employee more than $1.26 million in damages.

As per the reports by Associated Press, the veteran actor will be making payment in two installments of $632,142.

However, he was not personally found liable by the four-woman, three-man jury.

Moreover, as per the reports of Deadline, Robinson was cleared of any financial wrongdoing in her employment of 11 years as an assistant for the Oscar winner.

While Robinson was present at the hearing, the actor skipped the hearing, as per the reports. It added that upon getting the verdict in her favor, she hugged one of her attorneys.
