Record Store Day has announced its highly anticipated lineup for the annual Black Friday event, taking place on November 29, 2024. It is an annual event that brings together music lovers and vinyl enthusiasts to support independent record stores. This special day features exclusive vinyl releases, special editions, and limited quantities that are only available at participating record stores.
This year’s selection features over 150 limited-edition vinyl releases from a diverse range of artists, including Noah Kahan, Olivia Rodrigo, U2, Billie Eilish, and Kacey Musgraves. Music fans can look forward to unique offerings that celebrate both classic and contemporary sounds.
Notable Releases
Among the standout titles is U2’s How to Re-Assemble an Atomic Bomb, a companion album featuring bonus and unreleased tracks from the sessions of their acclaimed album How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. Record Store Day is the only time that this unique release—a limited quantity of 20,000 copies on black-and-red marble vinyl—will be available.
Billie Eilish will present Hit Me Hard And Soft (Isolated Vocals), allowing fans to enjoy her voice in a new light. This alternate version of her latest album, featuring only vocal tracks, will be available in a limited run of 25,000 copies. Additionally, Noah Kahan is set to release a collection of all-star duets from his successful album Stick Season (We’ll All Be Here Forever).
Olivia Rodrigo is also joining the lineup with a special two-LP set titled Guts Spilled, which combines her Guts album with bonus tracks. This release is expected to be highly sought after, following her success in previous Record Store Day events.
A Diverse Range of Genres
The lineup spans a wide array of genres, featuring classic rock legends like The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, and the Rolling Stones, alongside modern rock acts like Pearl Jam and Rage Against the Machine. The hip-hop category includes releases from Ghostface Killah, Cypress Hill, and Snoop Dogg, while jazz enthusiasts can look forward to titles from the Bill Evans Trio and Herbie Hancock.
The Community Experience
Record Store Day Black Friday not only celebrates exclusive releases but also fosters community among music lovers. Many independent record stores will host events, live performances, and discussions, creating a vibrant atmosphere for shoppers. Unlike big-box retailers that have shifted their sales online, Record Store Day offers a unique opportunity to connect with fellow fans while waiting in line for coveted vinyl.
As the event approaches, music enthusiasts are encouraged to check local listings for participating stores and specific offerings. Mark your calendars for November 29, and get ready to explore an incredible selection of exclusive vinyl while supporting independent shops!
