Rebel Wilson, now 45, has undergone a remarkable health journey since declaring 2020 her “year of health.” The actor lost nearly 36 kg (about 79 pounds) through a combination of dietary changes, exercise, and mindset shifts. However, she recently admitted regaining roughly 14 kg (30 pounds) amid the demands of work, motherhood, and promoting her memoir Rebel Rising.
Diet, Exercise, and Mindset
Wilson shifted from emotional eating to more sustainable habits. She noted that before her reset, she would consume around 3,000 calories daily, mostly from carbs. During her transformation, she focused on moderate portions, high-protein meals—including fish, salmon, chicken breast, lean beef tacos, and protein shakes—and incorporated daily walks. She emphasized that nothing was forbidden, enjoying treats in moderation.
Her workouts combined strength training and long walks, with high-tech testing confirming walking as especially effective for cutting body fat. By October 2021, she had lost 35 kg, eventually surpassing 36 kg. The transformation improved health markers and helped her land more serious acting roles, which she credits to her new, healthier lifestyle.
PCOS and Fertility Goals
Wilson lives with PCOS, which can impact fertility. A fertility consultation in 2019 motivated her to pursue weight loss for egg retrieval. She welcomed her daughter, Royce, via surrogate with fiancée Ramona Agruma in November 2022. Post-motherhood, lack of sleep and increased responsibilities made weight maintenance more challenging.
Use of Ozempic
Wilson has acknowledged using Ozempic to help control appetite and maintain weight, noting it can be helpful for someone prone to overindulging in sweets. She emphasizes that young people should avoid obsessing over looks despite such tools.
Her Philosophy
Rebel’s approach balances body positivity with health, focusing on becoming the healthier version of herself rather than just hitting a number on the scale. Her journey demonstrates that lasting change requires self-care, resilience, and balance, inspiring many to prioritize wellness over aesthetics alone.
