Ready or Not made a big impression when it first came out in 2019, offering something fresh and different in the world of horror movies. Now, a sequel called Ready or Not: Here I Come is officially in the works.
In the original film, the main character, Grace, played by horror star Samara Weaving, ends up fighting for her life during what should have been a happy moment: her wedding. After marrying into a wealthy and mysterious family, she’s forced to play a deadly game of hide and seek, as the family’s dark secrets begin to surface. The movie mixes horror and comedy in a fun, over-the-top way, while also slipping in some sharp commentary on class and privilege. The ending was dramatic and shocking, literally explosive, but it also hinted that there’s more to this creepy world than just Grace’s story.
While many horror movies usually get poor reviews from critics, Ready or Not was different. It received strong praise and earned a high score on Rotten Tomatoes, somewhere in the upper 80s. Financially, it also did very well, making nearly $29 million at the box office on just a $6 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo.

With that kind of success, it’s no surprise that people began talking about the possibility of a sequel. The film’s mix of horror, humour, and a clever supernatural twist gave it real potential to grow into a larger series. For a while, it seemed like a second movie might never happen, as time passed without any news. But now, things are finally moving forward, and Ready or Not: Here I Come is becoming a reality.
This means another exciting horror series is beginning to take shape, one that blends scares, satire, and style in a way audiences clearly enjoy.
Ready Or Not 2: Here I Come latest news
With the long-awaited sequel finally gaining momentum, the latest update has confirmed both the full title and several new cast members for Ready or Not 2. Instead of going with a simple number like Ready or Not 2, the filmmakers have chosen the official title Ready or Not: Here I Come. This name feels darker and more intense, suggesting that the next movie will bring even more twisted and deadly games.
In addition to revealing the title, Searchlight Pictures shared on X (which used to be called Twitter) that filming for the sequel has officially started in Toronto, Canada.
The movie is also becoming a major star-filled production. Two big names have been added to the cast, Elijah Wood, known for The Lord of the Rings, and Sarah Michelle Gellar, famous for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Their exact roles haven’t been revealed yet, but they’re joining an already strong lineup that includes returning star Samara Weaving, as well as Kathryn Newton, who recently appeared in Abigail.
Other newly announced cast members include Shawn Hatosy, known from Chicago PD, Néstor Carbonell from Bates Motel, and Kevin Durand, also from Abigail. And adding to the excitement for horror fans, legendary horror filmmaker David Cronenberg will also be part of the cast.
Ready Or Not 2 confirmation: Is Ready or Not: Here I Come confirmed?
The directors of Ready or Not, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, also known as the team behind Radio Silence, recently shared that progress on the sequel is going well behind the scenes. They officially confirmed that Ready or Not 2 was happening back in October 2024.
Shortly after the announcement, casting for the movie began picking up speed, with several new actors joining the project in early 2025. It was also revealed that filming officially started in April 2025, although we still don’t know the full production schedule just yet.
Given how quickly things are moving, there’s a good chance that Ready or Not: Here I Come could be ready to hit theatres sometime in early 2026.
For context, the original Ready or Not was released on August 21, 2019, so by the time the sequel comes out, it will have been about six and a half years since the first movie premiered.
Ready or Not: Here I Come release date
It’s official, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is hitting the big screen soon! The much-anticipated sequel to Searchlight’s 2019 horror-thriller Ready or Not will release in theatres across the U.S. on April 10, 2026.
Samara Weaving is back in her role as Grace, the blood-soaked bride who survived a deadly game of hide and seek. This time, she’s joined by a fresh lineup of stars, including Kathryn Newton, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, Kevin Durand, Olivia Cheng, David Cronenberg, and Elijah Wood. With this star-studded cast and the original team returning, the sequel promises more mystery, horror, and dark humour, and maybe even more chaos from Mr. Le Bail’s twisted world.
Ready or Not: Here I Come cast details
While much of the story for Ready or Not: Here I Come is still being kept secret, one major detail has been confirmed, Samara Weaving is officially returning. The directing duo Radio Silence confirmed both the sequel and her comeback at the same time. She’s expected to return as Grace, the fierce bride who survived the bloody chaos of the first film. Given how the first movie ended, with most of the other characters either dead or blown up, it’s likely that Weaving will be the only returning cast member. Still, having her back brings a lot of star power, especially in the world of horror.
In early 2025, Kathryn Newton, known for her role in Abigail, was announced as a new addition to the cast, though her character’s name and role are still unknown. She was quickly followed by several more high-profile names. Sarah Michelle Gellar, best known for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Elijah Wood from The Lord of the Rings have both joined the cast in mystery roles.
They’re also joined by Shawn Hatosy (Chicago PD), Néstor Carbonell (Bates Motel), and Kevin Durand (Abigail). Another surprise addition is legendary horror filmmaker David Cronenberg, who has also taken on an unknown role in the movie. Though we don’t know who any of these new characters will be yet, the cast list shows that the sequel is shaping up to be a star-studded horror event.
So far, the confirmed cast for Ready or Not: Here I Come includes:
-
Samara Weaving as Grace
-
Kathryn Newton in an unknown role
-
Sarah Michelle Gellar in an unknown role
-
Elijah Wood in an unknown role
-
Shawn Hatosy in an unknown role
-

Ready Or Not: Here I Come plot details
After the explosive ending of Ready or Not, the upcoming sequel Ready or Not: Here I Come has two main paths it could take. One option is to continue directly from where the first movie left off and show what happens to Grace afterwards. There’s a theory that, since she survived and everyone else in the rich Le Domas family died, she might have inherited their fortune, and possibly even their strange curse connected to the mysterious Mr. Le Bail. If that’s the case, the sequel could explore how this curse might affect Grace in the future, especially if she ever decides to get married again.
The other possible direction is that the movie could shift into an anthology-style format. That means instead of following Grace’s story, it would focus on a completely different family, one also involved in a shady deal with Mr. Le Bail. Given what we know about the supernatural world from the first film, it seems very unlikely that Mr. Le Bail’s deal was exclusive to just one family. His influence could easily extend to other super-rich families around the world.
However, since Samara Weaving is confirmed to return as Grace, it seems more likely that the story will stick with her character and continue her storyline rather than starting fresh with new characters.
