Rachel Zegler recently took a nostalgic trip down memory lane by sharing a throwback photo of herself dressed as Snow White, just as her live-action Disney movie hit theaters. The actress posted a series of pictures, starting with one from 2004, followed by behind-the-scenes shots from the film set alongside her co-star, Gal Gadot.
In her caption, Zegler reflected on her journey, writing, “2004 ➡️ NOW—dreams really do come true.” She wrapped up the post with a promotional message, adding, “Snow White is now in theaters!”
After much anticipation and controversy, the live-action Snow White, starring Zegler and Gadot, was finally released on March 21. The film grossed $15.5 million domestically on its opening Friday. However, Zegler’s casting sparked backlash due to her past comments, where she called the original 1937 film “dated” and “weird.”
Beyond the controversy surrounding its casting, the film has also made headlines for rumored tensions between its two lead actresses. A source close to the production reportedly told People magazine that Zegler and Gadot were “not friends” on set and often had differing views, leading to occasional clashes.
Despite the off-screen drama, Zegler has expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity. Speaking on Good Morning America, she called playing Snow White “the honor of a lifetime.” She shared, “I think every young person dreams about a phone call like that.”
As a lifelong Disney fan, Zegler said bringing the character to life in a “unique and special way” was a “beautiful opportunity” that she felt honored to take on.
Snow White is now playing in theaters nationwide.
