Puka Nacua finally spoke on Saturday. It was his first time facing reporters since the NFL fined him for criticizing referees. It came just before the Rams play the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football.

This fine was not his first. It was the second one this season for the 24 year old wide receiver.

On the field, Nacua had a massive Week 16 game. He caught 12 passes. He piled up 225 yards. He scored 2 touchdowns. Still, the Rams lost to the Seattle Seahawks.

After that loss, emotions spilled over.

Nacua posted a message on X that took a shot at the officials. He deleted it soon after, but the league had already noticed. The post sarcastically thanked referees for their contribution.

That was not the only comment that caused trouble. A couple of weeks earlier, during a popular livestream, Nacua openly said the refs were the worst. Those remarks added to the situation.

According to NFL Network, the NFL fined Nacua $25,000 for his comments about officiating.

On Saturday, Nacua did not dodge responsibility. He admitted the moment was tough.

He said the fine hurt. He also said he was not surprised.

Nacua called it a learning experience. He said it was something he needs to make sure never happens again.

He explained that frustration will always be part of football. There will be highs and lows. Sometimes personal. Sometimes with the team. He said the key is learning how to handle those emotions better.

Nacua said he wants to manage his emotions and channel that energy in the right direction going forward.

For now, the focus shifts back to football. And to Monday night.
