A potential leak has revealed the price of the highly anticipated PS5 30th Anniversary Edition, and it looks like fans might be paying a premium for this special version of the console. The information comes from reputable leaker billbil-kun via Dealabs, who claims that the anniversary edition of the PS5 Slim will be priced at $499.99 in the U.S. and £449.99 in the U.K. This represents a $50 increase over the standard PS5 Slim, which is currently priced at $449.99.
The PS5 30th Anniversary Edition is designed to celebrate three decades of PlayStation’s legacy, and while it may have a higher price tag, it does not come with a built-in disc drive, sticking to a more digital-focused experience. However, the bundle is packed with exclusive items to commemorate this milestone. These include a vertical stand for the console, a special edition faceplate inspired by the original PS1 aesthetic, a customized DualSense wireless controller, a bespoke USB-C cable styled like the iconic PlayStation 1, and a set of collectible stickers that feature anniversary-themed designs.
The absence of the disc drive may come as a surprise, especially considering the price increase. However, the limited-edition accessories and the nostalgic design elements are likely aimed at die-hard PlayStation fans who are drawn to the brand’s history.
Additionally, it has been suggested that the 30th Anniversary Edition DualSense controller will also be available for purchase separately, with a price point of $79.99 (around £69.99). This is slightly higher than the standard DualSense, which recently saw a price hike of its own. The custom controller is expected to have design elements reminiscent of the PS1 era, making it an attractive option for collectors.
While there has been no official word from Sony about the PS5 30th Anniversary Edition or its pricing, this leak has generated excitement and speculation among the PlayStation community. Given the iconic status of the PlayStation brand, this special edition console is likely to be a sought-after item for both collectors and long-time fans eager to celebrate the company’s three-decade journey in gaming.
Stay tuned for an official announcement from Sony, which will likely confirm these details and provide a clearer picture of what to expect from this nostalgic yet modern take on the PlayStation experience.
