Princess Anne made a high-profile appearance at Wembley Arena last night, attending a spectacular display by the Spanish Riding School of Vienna just weeks after recovering from a horse-related injury. The 74-year-old royal, a lifelong equestrian enthusiast, looked in good spirits as she joined thousands of fans for the much-anticipated event.
The show, hosted by TV presenter Nicki Chapman, featured the famed Lipizzaner horses, a breed that has long captivated the Royal Family. Eight riders and up to 26 horses performed intricate, elegantly choreographed routines set to classical Viennese music, creating a magical atmosphere for attendees.
Princess Anne’s appearance follows her recovery from a concussion and minor injuries sustained in June when she was struck by a horse near her home. Despite a brief hospitalization, the Princess Royal looked fully recovered and was clearly enjoying the prestigious event.
A dedicated supporter of the Spanish Riding School, Princess Anne has visited its Vienna training facility numerous times over the years. In 1969, she and Queen Elizabeth II were even granted the rare honor of riding one of the Lipizzaner horses, further cementing her long-standing connection with the institution.
TV presenter Nicki Chapman expressed her delight at hosting the evening with the royal in attendance, saying: “Hosting the opening night of the prestigious Spanish Riding School tour, with The Princess Royal present, was an absolute honor. It’s been eight years since the Lipizzaner horses and their talented riders last visited the UK, and sharing the magic with both The Princess Royal and the British public made the evening truly unforgettable.”
The event marked a triumphant return for both Princess Anne and the Spanish Riding School, whose performances remain one of the world’s most revered equestrian displays.
