Prince Harry reportedly wasn’t informed by the Palace about King Charles’ recent hospital visit

Prince Harry reportedly learned about King Charles III’s recent hospitalization through the media, not directly from Buckingham Palace or his father’s team. This revelation came from The Sun’s royal editor, Matt Wilkinson, during a recent episode of A Right Royal Podcast on April 4.

According to Wilkinson, “They didn’t want to add to the drama” and did not want to make the situation appear more serious than it was. This approach contrasts with when King Charles was diagnosed with cancer, where Prince Harry was informed beforehand and even flew back to the UK. This time, however, Harry was only made aware of his father’s hospitalization after news broke in the media.

King Charles was admitted to the hospital on March 27 due to temporary side effects from his ongoing cancer treatment. Buckingham Palace later clarified that the king required brief observation but was not in serious condition. The palace also announced that several of Charles’ afternoon engagements were postponed, and some changes were made to the following day’s schedule for precautionary reasons. After being discharged, King Charles rested at Clarence House before traveling to Highgrove, the royal family’s private estate in Gloucestershire. He resumed his regular schedule on April 1.

This hospitalization came a little over a year after King Charles was diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer, with the diagnosis being made public in February 2024 after he underwent a procedure for an enlarged prostate.

In his 2024 Christmas Day speech, King Charles had acknowledged his health struggles and expressed deep gratitude to the medical professionals who supported him, as well as to the public for their kind words of encouragement during his treatment.
