The controversy surrounding actor Kim Soo Hyun, the late Kim Sae Ron, and Garosero Research Institute continues to draw public interest as the investigation progresses. On June 30, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station confirmed that they had questioned Kim Soo Hyun’s lawyer, Attorney Bang Sung Hoon, earlier this month as part of the ongoing case. He was summoned on June 18 at 2 p.m. to discuss the defamation complaint filed by Kim Soo Hyun against Garosero and Kim Sae Ron’s family. However, police did not share any details about what was discussed during the questioning.
In a new development, Kim Soo Hyun’s legal team filed another complaint on June 23, this time accusing Kim Sae Ron’s family and Kim Se Eui, who runs the Garosero Research Institute, of false accusations. This marks the second formal complaint from the actor’s side in relation to the ongoing case. Authorities confirmed that they are planning to summon Kim Se Eui for questioning, though the exact date has not yet been made public.
The case first gained traction after Kim Soo Hyun filed a defamation complaint on May 9, accusing Kim Se Eui of violating the Information and Communications Network Act and the Stalking Punishment Act. The legal action came in response to claims made by Garosero and Kim Sae Ron’s family after the actress’s death in February 2025.
Following her passing, Garosero began sharing supposed evidence of an inappropriate relationship between Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron, which allegedly began when she was still underage. They released images, text messages, and most controversially, an audio recording said to be from January 10, 2025, where a female voice—claimed to be Kim Sae Ron—said she had been romantically involved with the actor since her middle school years.
Kim Soo Hyun’s team strongly denied the allegations, saying the audio was fake and may have been AI-generated. They also stated that the claims were completely false and damaging to the actor’s reputation.
With two complaints now filed and key individuals scheduled for questioning, the investigation is expected to continue over the coming weeks. The police have indicated they are working to finalize the timing of interviews and will move forward based on the evidence collected.
