The first season of Pluribus on Apple TV has just finished, and fans are already wondering when the next season will come. Creator Vince Gilligan has said that the second season is in the works, but it’s moving slowly. He told Entertainment Weekly that he wishes they could go faster, but it takes time.

The show has been a big hit this year. It got two Golden Globe nominations and tells the story of novelist Carol Sturka, played by Rhea Seehorn. Carol seems to be the only person who survived an alien virus that turns the rest of humanity into a hive mind.

Executive producer Gordon Smith joked about the long wait, saying they feel like they are somewhere on a timeline that stretches to infinity.

Right now, there is no set filming date for season 2. Forbes reports that production probably won’t start until spring 2026, so fans might have to wait a long time. Long breaks between seasons are not unusual these days, especially with expensive shows and busy actor schedules.

Gilligan also spoke about the pressure of creating Pluribus after his famous shows Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He admitted it would have been safer to stay in the Breaking Bad universe, but he wanted to challenge himself. He wanted to write something completely new and a main character who is a good person after spending nearly 20 years writing antiheroes.

For now, fans will have to be patient. At least season 1 is still available to watch again while waiting for the next chapter.
