A luxury Rolex watch purportedly belonging to late One Direction star Liam Payne has reportedly appeared for sale on the black market. The watch, valued up to USD 60,000, was offered to a collector by a known Rolex dealer and comes with an authenticity card and serial number allegedly linking it directly to Payne.
Liam Payne passed away on October 16, 2024, after a tragic fall from a third-floor hotel balcony in Buenos Aires at age 31. He died without a legal will, meaning his entire estate—estimated at around USD 32.2 million—is inherited by his 8-year-old son, Bear.
Cheryl Tweedy (formerly Cheryl Cole), Payne’s ex-partner and Bear’s mother, has been legally appointed as the estate’s guardian. Sources confirm Cheryl had no involvement in the attempted sale and has not authorized the release or sale of any personal belongings. Insiders described the sale as “legally questionable” and “deeply unethical,” emphasizing the items should be preserved for Bear or sold publicly for charity, not sold privately for profit.
Authorities have yet to identify the seller but suspect someone close to Payne. The watch may be the same one Payne was last seen wearing before his death and that was never recovered from his hotel room.
Toxicology reports revealed Payne had cocaine, benzodiazepine, and crack in his system at the time of the accident.
If the unauthorized sale is confirmed, it could trigger a major legal battle. Cheryl reportedly plans to restrict Bear’s access to the inheritance until he is at least 25, ensuring he makes responsible decisions about his wealth.
