Park Gyu Young recently opened up about the controversy that followed her accidental spoiler reveal for Squid Game Season 3. In an interview with a Korean media outlet on June 2, she shared how sorry she felt about what happened and talked about the reactions of director Hwang Dong Hyuk and fellow actor Lee Jin Wook. The issue began when she mistakenly posted a photo that revealed Lee Jin Wook’s character, Park Gyeong Seok, would appear in Season 3 as one of the pink-clad guards. Although she deleted the post soon after, many fans had already seen it, and the reaction was swift, with some criticizing her for revealing a major plot point too early.

She admitted that the last few months had been difficult and expressed regret for not speaking up earlier, explaining that she stayed quiet out of concern for how her comments might affect the project. She said she immediately apologized to both the director and Lee Jin Wook after realizing her mistake. While the director gently told her to be more careful in the future, Lee Jin Wook was understanding and supportive, helping ease some of the pressure she felt.

There had also been reports claiming that Park Gyu Young was hit with a large fine because of the spoiler, but she clarified that this wasn’t true. She explained that while there were clear rules about sharing behind-the-scenes content, there was no mention of a penalty fee in her contract. She chose her words carefully, saying the focus was more on avoiding similar problems in the future rather than on punishing her. Her main goal now is to move forward thoughtfully and ensure that nothing like this happens again.
