Season 2 of Paradise is officially in the works, and it’s bringing in a completely fresh group of characters. This shift makes sense, especially since season 1 ended with Sterling K. Brown’s character, Xavier, preparing to leave the bunker, setting the stage for a new direction.
Several new faces are joining the show, including Thomas Doherty (Tell Me Lies), Michael McGrady (The Perfect Couple), Timothy Omundson (Psych), Raymond Cham Jr. (The Idea of You), and even Brown’s real-life wife, Ryan Michelle Bathé. Their specific roles haven’t been revealed yet, but expectations are high.
Filming for season 2 is currently halfway through. Brown shared in a recent interview that this season is a lot more physical and fun. Meanwhile, creator Dan Fogelman teased an entire episode focused on Jane (played by Nicole Brydon Bloom), the quirky character with a Wii obsession, hinting that something about her isn’t quite right.
Even though season 1 wrapped up the mystery around President Cal Bradford’s (James Marsden) murder, there are still a lot of unanswered questions — and season 2 promises to explore those twists and new storylines.
No release date has been confirmed yet, but stay tuned for updates as more details become available.
Paradise season 2 release date speculations
Disney+ hasn’t shared the official release date for Paradise season 2 yet, but it’s looking likely that the new episodes will arrive sometime in 2026.
Filming is already well underway. In fact, series creator Dan Fogelman recently said he’s currently writing the finale of season 2 and has already started seeing edited versions of the first few episodes, and according to him, “it’s so good.”
This means that, depending on how quickly everything comes together and how the cast’s schedules align, season 2 could realistically drop within the next year.
Sterling K. Brown has also hinted that the story is planned as a three-season arc, so expect even more twists, cliffhangers, and mystery as the show continues.
Paradise season 2 cast details
Since season 1 focused heavily on the mystery surrounding President Cal Bradford’s murder, it’s unlikely James Marsden will be back in a major role, though we might still see him in flashbacks, just like we did during the first season.
Several characters met tragic ends in the season finale. Trent the librarian (Ian Merrigan) took his own life after being caught by Xavier and Robinson. Billy (Jon Beavers) was killed by Jane. And Sinatra was shot in the throat by Jane, though she survived and was seen recovering in the hospital, surrounded by her family.
Dan Fogelman, the show’s creator, has already confirmed that Sinatra (played by Julianne Nicholson) will return in season 2 and teased that her storyline will get even deeper and more surprising. According to him, she’ll have “a very interesting arc” and more is going on with her than we realize.
Henry Baines (Matt Malloy) took over in Cal’s absence by the end of season 1, and he may now hold more power in season 2. With both Cal and Sinatra out of direct action, there’s a strong possibility Henry could emerge as a darker force influencing things behind the scenes.
As for Xavier, we last saw him flying out of Paradise to look for his wife, Teri (Enuka Okuma). If he finds her, it’s likely she’ll play a bigger role in the upcoming season.
A bunch of new faces will also appear in season 2. Shailene Woodley is confirmed to join as someone Xavier meets outside the bunker. Her character has an “interesting backstory and a very interesting profession,” according to Fogelman, which ties into early events in the season.

Paradise season 2 plot: What will Paradise season 2 be about?
Right now, we don’t know the exact storyline for Paradise season 2, but based on how season 1 ended, it seems likely that it will pick up with Xavier’s journey as he leaves the bunker and returns to the outside world. One of the big questions is whether he’ll find his wife, Teri, or run into new challenges out there.
Series creator Dan Fogelman has hinted that season 2 will lean more into sci-fi than season 1. In an interview, he said that while the bunker’s purpose was explained in the first season, there’s still more to discover, including deeper layers about who created it and why. Season 2 will also dive more into topics like climate change, survival, and how people who were left outside the bunker managed to keep going.
Fogelman also teased that we’ll learn even more about Sinatra and Jane. In particular, he said we’ll understand Sinatra’s behaviour better once we see more of her backstory.
As for Xavier, Sterling K. Brown has confirmed that his character will explore the outside world and that viewers will see what has changed in the three years since the disaster. Life outside isn’t the same; people there didn’t have the resources and infrastructure that the bunker residents did, so we’ll see what survival looked like in those harsh conditions.
There’s also the mystery of Teri: is she alive? If so, for how long? Season 2 will explore that, while also continuing to show what’s happening inside the bunker. Eventually, both storylines will collide, which promises to make things even more dramatic.
